John 14:1-11

In life, people can be known and understood in various ways. However, when it comes to Jesus Christ, He is definitive and unwavering. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8). Jesus declared to His disciples, “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me” (John 14:1).

Jesus went on to assure His disciples that He was going to prepare a place for them in His Father’s house, where there are many mansions (John 14:2-3). He promised to come again and receive them to Himself so that they might be where He is (John 14:3). Thomas, one of the disciples, asked Jesus how they could know the way to where He was going (John 14:5).

Jesus responded by saying, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6). This statement settled the matter, and Jesus made it clear that He is the only way to the Father. As the Bible says, “For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus” (1 Timothy 2:5).

The name of Jesus is authoritative, powerful, and sweet. It is the name that brings life unto eternity. As Jesus said, “If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; and from now on you know Him and have seen Him” (John 14:7). Philip asked Jesus to show them the Father, and Jesus replied, “He who has seen Me has seen the Father” (John 14:9).

Jesus is the same Christ Jesus who is to come when the saints will be taken away in the rapture. As the Bible says, “For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord” (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17).

What should you do? Come to the Master by answering His call to salvation. As the Bible says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).

Prayer Points:

  • Pray for a deeper understanding of the person and work of Jesus Christ.
  • Pray for the courage to share the gospel with others.
  • Pray for the salvation of those who do not know Jesus Christ.
  • Pray for the empowerment of the Holy Spirit to live a life that honours God.
  • Pray for the return of Jesus Christ and the rapture of the saints.

Conclusion:

As we reflect on the words of Jesus Christ, let us remember that He is the way, the truth, and the life. He is the only way to the Father, and His name is authoritative, powerful, and sweet. Let us come to the Master by answering His call to salvation, and let us live a life that honours God. As the Bible says, “For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever! Amen” (Romans 11:36).
